GUNS OF EL CHUPACABRA was filmed between January and August 1997. It was first presented at the 1997 American Film Market, with a twenty minute long trailer, which can finally be seen in the Scott Shaw Zen Documentary, FROGTOWN NEWS. The first full-screening of GUNS OF EL CHUPACABRA took place at the Director's Guild of America in January 1998. The next month it was shown at Sony Studios.

GUNS OF EL CHUPACABRA was initially highly embraced in Puerto Rico, South and Central America, Mexico, the Philippines, and Japan. In the early twentieth century, it was discovered by The Smithee Awards - where it won several awards and acquired many new fans. "Many Thanks."

In 2000 the soundtrack for GUNS OF EL CHUPACABRA was reworked, leaving behind the wholly Blue Grass and Alt. Country music that was originally composed for the film. Added to the remaining original soundtrack is a wild mix of Punk Rock, Folk, and Rock. The bands that provided exceptional music for this film include: The Sin City Boys, The Sun City Girls, Cowboy Buddha, and Raz.

Donald G. Jackson and Scott Shaw feel that they created two masterpieces as a filmmaking team. The first was, THE ROLLER BLADE SEVEN the second is GUNS OF EL CHUPACABRA.
