Skip-Rank

Understanding Skip-Rank Promotion.

Due to the fact that many active martial art practitioners and martial art instructors move away from their original teacher or organization, their rank is not reflective of their level of skill or their time in the martial arts. Hapkido Taekwondo International offers a solution to qualified individuals seeking rank in accordance with their time in the arts.

What is the procedure for Skip-Rank Promotion?

1. You must provide us with copies of ALL of your Black Belt Certificates.

2. You must provide a written document detailing your history in the martial arts. This can either be in the form of a written biography or a resume.

The testing Committee will then review your application. If the testing board feels that you possess the appropriate qualifications for Skip-Rank advancement, through your ongoing participation in the arts, then your advancement will be approved.

Hapkido Taekwondo International uses the accepted standard for promotion commonly employed in the martial arts -- and we do not deviate from this standard.

The time between 1st and 2nd dan is approximately two years.

The time between 2nd and 3rd dan is approximately three years.

The time between 3rd and 4th dan is approximately four years.

The time between 4th and 5th dan is approximately five years.

What is the maximum number of ranks I can skip?

Three.

The average is one.

For example, if you have been an an active practitioner and a 1st dan Black Belt for at least five years, you may be qualified to be promoted to 3rd dan Black Belt.

Or, if you have been an active practitioner and a 2nd dan Black Belt for at least seven years, you may be qualified to be promoted to 5th dan.

If I am approved for Skip-Rank Promotion from 2nd to 4th dan will I also receive a 3rd dan certificate?

No.

If the Hapkido Taekwondo International Testing Board approves your Skip-Rank promotion you will only receive a certificate for the rank approved. As you are not actually testing for the lower rank, no certificate is awarded.

What is the cost of Skip-Rank Advancement?

The cost of Skip-Rank Promotion is our standard $300.00 Single-Step Promotion Fee plus $300.00 for each additional rank. For example:
