Embracing the Positive

Here in the United States, the midterm election are taking place tomorrow. Because of this, and due to this fact, the airwaves have been bombarded with commercials about one politician attacking another politician and one cause lambasting the political measure on the opposite side. Everyone I know is just so sick of it. They’re all saying, “I can’t wait for Wednesday,” the day after the election as then the commercials will probably be gone. Though, as we undoubtedly all understand, there is a lot of turmoil in politics across the globe at this point in history. Though the election may be over on Wednesday, there will, more than likely, just be some new form of conflict to infest and attack our minds.

All this is very emblematic of what is taking place in society. Forget the midterms, look around you, look at how many people are judging, condemning, and saying negativing things about some other person or subject. How about you? How much negativity do you propagate? Who have you hurt, who have you tried to hurt, because that is what words, based in negativity, are meant to do? Is that the right thing to have done?

Everybody believes their point of view is the right point of view. Okay… So what! Yeah, you believe what you believe. You are programmed to believe that what you believe is right. Yeah, there may be one, two, or a million other people believing as you believe, there may even be commercials on the TV and the radio broadcasting that what you believe is right, but who really cares? At the root of all of life is simply you existing in a space where you are safe, feed, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and maybe even happy. But, all of that has nothing to do with what anybody says about anyone else, especially if what they are saying is hurtful and negative. That is just Mind Junk that some people get addicted to spewing simply because they can.

Take a moment right and think about the words you are hearing and reading in the outside, out around you. Think about what you heard today, yesterday, last week, last year. How much of what you are listening to or reading is based in negativity?  Even more important, how much has what you have heard and what you have read affected what you think and what you have said? If you are believing the beliefs of someone else, if you are following the beliefs of someone else, especially if they are based in negativity, doesn’t that mean that you have relinquished the right to be your own person and create your own life based upon your own set of life experiences?

Some people thrive on negativity. It is a very powerful tool and a very addictive mindset as by saying something negativity about someone or something else, this allows a person to feel a sense of empowerment and control as they are the one judging and depreciating that other individual or subject. How about you? How do you feel when you criticize or condemn someone else?

Okay, this’s what’s going on. But, it doesn’t have to be that way! Life, your life, the life of those you know and associate with, does not have to be based on negativity! We all understand that living a life based upon negativity never ends well. It always leads one to dark places. Let’s change all that!

Take today, forget all the stuff that’s going on out there on the airways in politics and otherwise, and let’s just be positive! Instead of criticizing anyone, turn that around, say something positive. Even if you don’t like a person, say something positive about them. Spread that positivity out to the world. Take today and do not allow yourself to be defined by negativity. Don’t say anything negative about anyone or anything. Instead, intentionally say something positive. Even if you have to force yourself to do so, get out there and say or write something positive!

Your life becomes defined by what you do over and over and over again. You can allow yourself to be defined by negativity. Or, you can follow the road that we all understand is better. Be a force of positivity. Today, speak only the positive. You never know, you may like it, and positivity may become the definition of your life.
