Insecurity and Arrogance
Most people when they think about an individual who exhibits the traits of insecurity or arrogance believe that they are two vastly different mindsets. This is not the case, however, as arrogance is often exhibited by the individual who is lost in a sense of insecurity and from this they attempt to make themselves seem larger via their words and their behavior.
The traits of an insecure individual are obvious. They are timid, believing, wanting to please others, constantly seeking approval of others, and they possess a deep inner sense of self-doubt and unworthiness.
The traits of an arrogant person are also obvious. They exhibit condescending behavior towards others, the brag about what they own and what they have accomplished. They gasconade about who they know and who they associate with. They do not possess a sense of empathy or humility. They lie to make themselves appear to be more than they truly are. And, the list goes on.
But, what is the cause of arrogance? What motivates an individual to behave in an arrogant fashion? Certainly, there are a million psychological reason for this, defined somewhat differently by each individual, but at their core they want to be seen as something more, as they doubt their own self-worth. Why? Because they do not possess a true sense of Self. They are not Whole onto themselves. They are not secure in who and what they are, what they do and/or have done, and what they have accomplished in life. Thus, arrogance is simply a trait of insecurity.
Think about the people you know or have known who brag about who and what they are, what they have accomplished, who they know, and what they own. Are any of them truly good people, doing positive things for all they encounter? Do they strive to make the world a better place? Or, do they only think about themselves?
Look at yourself. Are you insecure? Are you arrogant? Do you give in and kowtow to others you wish to befriend or impress? Do you lie about who and what you truly are and/or what you do and what you have accomplished? Or, do you feel secure in yourself; giving to and caring for others?
Like most stages of psychological development in the majority of individuals, there are many stages and levels of a person’s human awareness. The fact is, most people do not truly delve deep into their mind to trace, analyze, and develop a true sense of enhanced consciousness and mindfulness. Most people simply pass through their life never studying who and what they truly are and why they have arrived at the level of cognization where they find themselves. How about you? How deeply have dove into truly knowing who and what you are and why you behave in the manner that you behave?
Ultimately, the individual who bases their life on a sense of insecurity or arrogance or lies to themselves about the fact that they are either of these things, is simply a person who is not in touch with their true essence. Thus, they allow themselves to walk the path of unknowing behavior, hurting not only others but themselves and their own evolution in the process.
Never fall prey to a person like this, as they can only bring pain to your life. Moreover, never allow yourself to be one of these people: the insecure or the arrogant. Study yourself. Know yourself. Find a pathway to overcome any lower self-ideologies you may possess and become the true essence of whom you were meant to be.
