Be Positive

In Your Own Moment But That’s No One Else’s Moment

You know, in Spiritual, New Age, and Positive Thinking Circles, one of the things that is often discusses is that one should stive to be in their own moment. To truly live what they are doing to this fullest. That sounds like a good thing; right?

I mean, certainly we can all attest to the fact that when we are fully engulfed in our moment, living our best life, we feel totally alive and that great sense of fulfillment is omnipresent.

Lord knows, I’ve spoken and written a lot about this subject; in its various forms.

But, there’s a whole other level to this. That level is when one person is totally alive in their own moment, but their own moment is infringing on someone else’s. Then what?

As I live in L.A., and driving is the name of the game, I am so often confronted with the realities of life, both good and bad, when I am behind the wheel.

So often, I will be driving somewhere, and I end up behind someone one who is simply lost in their own moment. Maybe they are talking to someone. Maybe they are messing around on their phone. Maybe they are playing with their screen, for the cars that have one of those. And, all of that kind of stuff. They are totally engulfed, living their own moment, but in living their own moment, they are fucking up the moment(s) of someone else.

I’m using driving as an example, as I’m sure a lot of you can relate to that situation. But, this supposed state of mind-full-ness is actually leading to a state of mind-less-ness about the anybody else. And, this goes on all the time, all over the place, in all of life situations.

The question must then be asked, if you living in your own moment is negativity affecting the life of someone else, can that be a good thing? Or, is that simply selfishness? Is that simply you not caring about the greater whole of humanity or the world?

Here’s a sad fact of the world, most people couldn't care less about you, how you are feeling, or why you are feeling it. Most people couldn't care less if they are messing with your life, as long as they are feeling good about their life.

Is that you? Is that the person you are? When you are totally entrenched in your moment, are you even thinking about how that absoluteness is affecting anyone else?

There’s nothing that you or I can do to change the trajectory of human reality. People are a selfish breed. The one fact is, however, you don’t have to be that person. You don’t have to be that somebody, that no matter how much you are in your moment, you negativity affect the life of someone else.

Keep this in mind the next time you find yourself completely submerged in your moment. Keep the question on our lips, is my being in my moment hurting the moment of anyone else? Because, if it is, all you may have gained by being in the now will be affected by the negative karma you are creating by damaging the life of that someone else.
