Be Positive
I had popped over onto eBay this AM just to do what I do every now and then and check out and into to see if there are any of the books I’m looking for currently being offered.
Doing a couple of searches, this one book popped up that hit this spot in me. You know, how every now and then there is that something that comes into your field of vision that causes you to go back and remember a place, a space, a time, when the world/your world was full of possibilities.
As detailed, in times gone past, here in this blog and elsewhere, by nature, I’m really not a nostalgic person. I’m more about being here and now, then reliving or reimagining the back then. But, every now and then, it hits me too. Like it did noticing that book on eBay today.
It sent me to a time, back in the days of Topanga Canyon, when the world was different and spirituality was raining/reigning supreme. When being spiritual actually meant something. There was this bookstore up there, back when. Every now and then, I solo, or with a friend or lover in tow, would hit it up. It was really a great bookstore. …Bookstores, remember those?
But, like I said, spirituality was a thing back then. It meant something. And, those of us who frequented such paces, and walked the walk, had a sense of community, of belonging.
I remember, I bought a copy of that one aforementioned book, (now on eBay), way back in the way back when at that bookstore. It was like that feeling of accomplishment. You found something that you knew would guide you in a good, new, and more positive direction. And, I believe it did.
I thought to buy that book I saw on eBay today. But, I went and checked my shelves, and I already have a copy. See how time gets lost… See how the focus of times gone past changes. You have something, then you don’t, then you do, and you don’t even quite remember when you re-got it. Once, a major accomplishment. Later, just a thing.
Anyway, that/all this, does not change the fact of that feeling that seeing that book evoked. The embrace of a time when life was so much more new and so much more actualize-able.
I believe/I think we all need to embrace those moments when they come to us. Those moments where we are reminded of who we used to be. This is especially the case, when that reminded moment is of a positive nature. When we were still on the path to achieving what we hoped to become and the light at the end of the tunnel was so approachable.
