Give and Take

There are people that come into your life and truly give you something. There are people that come into your life and truly take something away. No matter how long you associate with that person, the equation will forever remain the same. There are people that give to your life and there are people that take from your life.

Certainly, there may be a little bit of give and take within each of these relationships. Not every giver, gives all the time. Just as not every taker, takes all the time. But, no matter what a person gives or takes from your life, there is always one constant in who that individual truly is. They are either a giver or a taker.

Think about a person who you had a relationship with during your existence. Take a moment and actually chart out your long-term interactions with that person. Did they give to your life? Did they truly provide you with a concrete something? Or, did they take from your life?

While you are focusing on this individual, how did you behave regarding your interactions with that person? Were you a giver or where you a taker?

This is really a very important subject to study. Because most people only judge their relationships in terms of what has happened and/or is happening to them. They are never whole and honest enough to be real enough with themselves to truly study the truth as to whether they are a giver or a taker. How about you? How honest are you with yourself regarding this matter?

In life, we all appreciate the people who bring something positive into our existence. That’s just human nature. That gift may come in an untold number of forms. But, when it is given, it is felt. It is a positive feeling. We feel better. We feel more complete. We feel more accomplished. We feel that special something.

This is the same when someone takes something from us. We immediately feel that sense of loss. That experience may be large, or it may be small, but it is for sure the feeling that something is now gone and missing from our life.

Take a long look at the many close relationships you’ve had during your lifetime. Were the majority of those connections based in people giving to you or taking from you?

For each of us, due to that unknown logic of that grand whatever, we bring similar people into our lives. We allow similar people in be a part of our lives. For your life, have the majority of those people been givers or have they been takers?

By charting this out, by knowing the answer to this question, it will allow you to peer not only into your own psychology, but into the type of people you are attracting, whether intentionally or not, into your sphere of reality. From this, you may choose to take better control over your life and only allow a certain type of individual to get close to you.

Truly look at yourself. Be honest. Are you a giver or are you a taker. Do you seek people out to give something to them and their life, or do you seek them out to take something from the existence: that something physical, mental, material, emotional, or whatever? If you wish to truly know yourself, you need to know the answer to that question.

All life, all human interaction, is a give and take dichotomy. But, in this, each person boils down to one of the two primary elements. Which one are you? Which one are the people from your past relationships? Which one is the people from your current relationship?

If you wish to live a better, more realized life, it is essential that you truthfully know the truth about give and take.
