So Big to You. So Big to No One Else.

Have you ever had one of those situations where something really-really big was going on in your life and it was all that you could think about? Maybe this was something very positive or maybe it was something very negative. Whatever it was, it was all-encompassing.

Have you ever had a friend or a loved one have something really-really big going on in their life and it was all they could think and speak about? Maybe this was something very positive or maybe it was something very negative. Whatever it was, it was all-encompassing.

When you had that really-really big something going on, who else cared about it? Really, who else cared about?

When that someone else had that really-really big something going on, how much did you care about it? Really, how much did you care about it?

Now, look out across the globe—think about how many people are having that really-really big something going on right now. How much does that affect your life? How much do you care? Really, take a true and a long hard look at this subject. Again, how much do you care?

There are about 8.3 billion people alive in the world right now as I write this piece. Think how many of them have the really-really big something going on in their life right now. Think how many do not have any really-really big something going on in their life right now and are just living their day-to-day existence.

Think about all of this. What do you think about you, when you have that really-really big something going on? Who will care? Who should care? And, maybe even more importantly, why should they care?

Think about all of the goings on with people stretching out across the globe right now. Do you care? Should you care?  And, maybe even more importantly, why should you care?

Here’s a fact, people only care (about anything) if they have a reason to care about it. What is their reason to care about your anything? What is your reason to care about their anything?

When you start to understand all of this, you will develop a new appreciation for the emotions of people and how and why they are directed in a particular direction.

We all care about what we care about. In certain moments in our life, we may even have that really-really big something going on. But, in that big something or when someone else is having that big something the truth needs to be understood the only person who truly cares about it is the individual who is experiencing it. The only other people who care about it are the people who have a vested interest in that person or the outcome.

Understand this, and you will develop a much deeper understanding of the reality of human existence.

Welcome to the human race.
