Be Positive
I had a weird flash as I was sitting here reading over an article about this musician who had a passing relationship with a much younger actress a million years ago. He remembers it. She remembers it. Though they both remember what took place differently… Or, at least, they want the story to be told the way they want the story to be told… But, it happened, then it was gone. If they had not been celebrities, no one would even care. No one would be writing about it, or reading about it, all these years later.
Think about your own life. Think about what you have lived and whom you have lived it with. Think about it. For the most part, no one but you, (and them), even knows what took place. Once they are gone—once you are gone, all that was lived will be gone. Then what?
For some reason, after reading that article, the memory of one of my long-terms friends popped into my mind. He’s dead now. So, the only one left who remembers what we lived is me.
I remember, but no one else knows. I’ve never told the stories to anyone. Why would I? No one has written an article about us. Why would they? So, when I’m gone, all that we lived will be gone.
His wife died before him. His daughter doesn’t know about the stuff we did. She never asked me. His grandkids will never know. They don’t even know who I am. All that was lived; gone. Then what?
You know, this is the case with all of our lives and our life experiences. We experience that something whatever with that whom-ever. It is lived. It may be remembered by those who lived it. But, no one lives forever. So, if it’s not noteworthy enough to be written about, and then read about by others, it will be forgotten, meaning nothing to no one who is left alive. Then what?
So, here we are. This is your life. What have you lived? Who have you lived it with? How will what was lived be known to anyone but you? How will you, and what you lived, be remembered when you are no more?
And perhaps, the overreaching truth, as what you lived will be known to no one but you, it ultimately meant nothing at all on the universal grand scheme of reality.
