Spring Cleaning
Do you have some items in your life that you have kept around forever even though you don’t really use them? Do you have some pieces of clothing that you own that you haven’t worn in years but you keep them around thinking that someday you will? Do you have some things in your life that you own, you have kept them around for no real reason, you know you’re probably never going to use them, yet they inhabit your living space?
I know there are some people that live on a really minimal level. And, that’s a good thing, I guess??? But, for most of us, we have some of the aforementioned described stuff in our life. Why it’s there, maybe we don’t even have a reason for it, yet it is there.
Me, (and I’ve spoken about stuff like this in the past), every now and then I get into one of those modes where I need to do a spring cleaning. I need to move the unused stuff along. Get it out to people that will use it. Free up some space in my life. So, I start to take a long hard look at my things. Then, I pack some stuff up and move it out and on.
It’s like this one woman, “A Decluttering and Organizational Expert,” in my feed says, you’ve already paid for it and keeping it just because you spent money on it doesn’t equal anything. That money is gone. And, if you’re keeping it just because you spent money on it and it is hindering your energy, your freedom of movement, your next evolution, and your space, you need to let it go.
The thing is, you really have to be careful when you do this kind of thing because lord knows there have been more than a few times where I desired space over stuff so I pass an item along and later found out that I could have really used it. Now, I’m not saying to keep your hoard. And yes, I have known a few hoarder and that is never a good thing. But, you can’t tell them that as they just don’t have the mind to hear it. To them, all that junk is way necessary. They have all kinds of reasons to keep it and clog up their life. But, to the mentally sane individual, they can see the folly in that. Anyway…
You’ve got to be careful. But, there is something really freeing in opening up space, freeing the energy, and moving stuff you don’t need or use along to people that can use it.
Me, I’ve been kind of in the move-along mode lately and I freed up some stuff. Mostly, stuff out of the kitchen. …Mugs and cups and dishes and kitchen items I wasn’t using. Anyway, in doing so this morning, I had laid out this one glass baking dish. I was fully planning to keep it as it is the only one I have/had. And, when you need one of those for cooking that specific something, you really need it. Anyway, I had it on the counter and I sat a bag full of mugs and glasses that I was going to donate on top of it. When I got ready to leave, I grabbed the bag, but I didn’t notice that it had (somehow) latched into the baking dish. I guess as I lifted the bag it lifted the dish just enough so as I picked it up it then released and went smashing onto the kitchen floor. Glass went everywhere. Damn it! What a mess.
I spent the next several minutes cleaning up all the broken glass, dumping out my cat’s food as some shards had gotten into it; sweeping, vacuuming, and all of that kind of stuff.
So, here’s the paradox… Had I not tried to free up space and move things along to increase energy flow and the overall goodness of my environment, none of that would have happened. I could have kept my stuff. And, in doing so, I wouldn’t have had to clean up the mess I made. But then, nothing would have changed. So, was my breaking that dish just a message from the great beyond that it too was clogging up the energy and needed to move along? I don’t know??? You tell me.
Oh well, a least the dish was made out of glass so it could go into the recycling bin.
Life is strange. We all try to make our lives better. In some cases, we do this by buying and acquiring stuff. In other ways we do it by moving that stuff along. In the end, that, they, and us will all be gone. We’re just here for the shortest second of time. Then what? Then what about all our stuff that we cared so much about? What will happen to it then? Who will it matter to then? When you or I are gone, who will really care? And, what mess will we leave to clean up?
