Be Positive
As tends to be the cases, sometime(s), when I’m lost deep in the late night and I’m not doing anything of major Importance, I pop YouTube on the big screen, sit back, and a gel into the darkness while allowing the flow or the algorithm to take me from one music video to the next.
As I was sitting there last night, this video came on and one of the musicians was wearing this tee-shirt that said, “Tokyo Hilton.” “What,” I exclaimed to my lady. “Why don’t I have one of those?”
“Why didn’t you ever buy one,” was her comeback. “Because I never saw one,” was my exaggerated response.
Sure, sure, this was all a bit of a joke. And, the fact of the fact be told, I never wear tee-shits. But, that doesn’t mean that for reasons about to be stated, I wouldn’t like to own one.
Here’s the thing, I have lived more than a year of my life at the Tokyo Hilton International in Shinjuku. Particularly in the ‘80s, when I was in and out of Tokyo all the time—sometimes for long, extended periods of time, that is where I would stay. The staff there loved me, “Welcome back Dr. Shaw,” every time I reappeared. I mean, I’m not exaggeration. I have lived more than a year of my life at that hotel. But, I never saw a tee-shirt.
Now, this ditty is all about one of those things of the not-too-important to anybody but the one feeling the situations. We all have these things. I mean, I’m sure you couldn’t care less about a tee-shirt from the Tokyo Hilton, as it doesn’t mean anything to you. But, I’m sure there are those things that if presented to you, in whatever manner that presentation may come, you would go, “Damn, why don’t I have one of those?”
Anyway, this is just something to think about as you pass through your life. Think about it, what matters to you and why? But, perhaps even more important, why does that something matter to you at all? Why did it mean to your life? What does it mean to your life? How does it define your life? And, at the top of this conversation, what are willing to do to get it?
