The AI Demarcation

First of all, so far anyway, I love AI. The things it can do are amazing. And, it’s, (what it can do), is advancing so fast.

Yes, yes, we have all heard about all the dark deeds it has already achieved. You know, like bouncing out onto the internet and attacking other sites and all of that kind of stuff. But, like I always say, “Did no one see 2001: A Space Odyssey?” Is it going to take away most of the job? Of course it is. Is it going to radically change our lives in a very few years? Absolutely. Is there anything we can do about this? Not a chance.

Okay, with all of this being said… One of the very interesting things I find about AI, at least at this stage of the game, is that if you ask it a question, it will give you a very well thought out answer. But, if you ask it the same question an hour, a day, or a whenever later, the answer will be different. So, which answer is the truth?

You know, like back in the long ago and the far-far away, if you had to ask a question of the Great Beyond, you would go to an encyclopedia. There was an answer. It was a hard and fast fact. Look at that encyclopedia the next day, the answer would stay the same.

Now, I’m not saying encyclopedias, or any other form of reference, were perfect in their facts. They were all created by biased individuals just like everything else in life. But, the fact(s) did not change.  With AI, this is not the case. It changes!

So, what does this tell us about the truth of life? I mean, I don’t know? Does it let us know that facts and the absolute truth are in flux? Maybe. Or, does it simply tell us that we immediately believe what we are told, without any further investigation?  Hard answer to know to truth of the truth.

So, just think about all of this as you are seeking your knowledge. If the truth changes with each question asked, what does, “The Truth,” actually mean?
