Be Positive

The Path of Your Becoming

How far did you get in the Path of Your Becoming? How far have you risen in the path of you becoming all that you hoped to become?

For many/most of us, there is that pinnacle that we wished to achieve. I have known a few who have risen to that place. For most, however, they are nowhere near that life-placement. They have dreams, they have fantasizes, but they never reached that peak. Why? For most, it is because they do not try. No, not really.

I was speaking with this Shop Girl I have known for a year or two. Way back in the way when, when I first got to speaking with her, I asked what else she does but this? …This, work at the shop. She told me she was studying to become a respiratory therapist. “Wow, that’s great,” I said. You will help a lot of people!” “Yeah, I can’t work here forever,” she interjected.

So many people I have met throughout my life, they each were going to do something. …Something that they never did. Why? A million reasons, I suppose. But, all they ended being is what they were not. All they were, was what they were. They never climbed up and/or out.

Today, I saw this aforementioned young lady. I asked, “How’s school?” “I graduated. I just passed the Boards.” “Wow, that is so great,” I exclaimed. “That is really-really good!”

“I’ll be leaving here at the end of the month,” she said. “Did you get a job,” I asked. “Yes at…” It’s a very well-known hospital here in L.A.

There she is, this one-time, semi long-time, Shop Girl. Now, a medical professional. She possesses the ability to help so many-many people. She is on her way to living a great life.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being an employee at wherever… Everyone serves a purpose. But, to truly study and to follow a path that can help so many, that is truly a good thing and a higher calling.

I’ve watched in life how so many people I have known have wanted to Become. But, they did not. I’ve witnessed how, especially with this internet generation, some have found a method to make enough money to survive at a relatively high level. At least for a moment. But, youth and beauty and popularity, it is all so temporary. It is all so fleeting. Yet, people get lost in it. That has been the same throughout time. Some people find a way to rise to a level they wish to live at, at least for a moment in their time. And, they dive in, headfirst, never even contemplating that it will not last forever. Then, when it is gone, what do they have?

I do not believe that most people have the desire to live a life based on helpful-service. Most, just want it all handed to them. Most just want what they want. They want to Get to Take. I get it. But, for anyone who studies life, that is just not the way existence is for most of us. At most, that thriving is lived and experienced only for a moment. Then, it is gone, and with that and from that, it is back to the grind.

What am I saying here? What I am saying is that any way you can make an honest living is AOK. There’s nothing wrong in that.  But, if you can take the time, if you possess the ability to focus, if you can choose a path that not only provides for you and your family, but for the betterment of the all of humanity; isn’t that the better way to go?

Good for her! She did it! She has the potential to truly live a good life while helping an untold number of others. What more can you ask for than that?

She is an example to all of us.
