Be Positive

Two Sides of the Narrative

The Sanskrit word for truth is, “Satya.” In Hinduism and Buddhism, Satya is an integral part of all reality. But ultimately, what is the truth?

I mean, just think about it. How important is truth to you? I believe for most of us, truth is a very important element of our life. We hope the other people we encounter in life are truthful and honest to us in all of our life-dealings. In fact, for most of us, we, at least initially, believe what people say to us. We trust what they say to be the truth.

But, think about how many people lie. Think how many people intentionally alter the truth. Think about how many put their own spin on whatever reality they have lived. And, they do this, based simply upon how they want the story to be told, how they wish to be perceived, what they hope to gain from that someone else, and how they want their life and their life-history to be illustrated. Have you ever told a lie?

Have you ever been in one of those situations where one person is telling the story about a life event that took place? You listen. You hear. And, you believe what they say to be true. Then, perhaps sometime later, you hear the same story told by another individual who lived that same life event and it is explained in a totally different way. The pathway to the end, and the facts that lead to their conclusions about the situation are depicted in a completely different manner than that which was explained to you by the other person. Then what? Who is telling the truth?

Maybe you have found yourself in one of those situations. You lived a life event with that someone else. You thought you experienced the same thing. But, when they told the story through their eyes it was something completely different from the way you remembered it to be. So, here’s the question, who is telling the truth?

One would think that life should be simple, and the truth should be the truth. And, in many cases that is the fact. The truth is the truth, but it is only altered by the person who wishes it to be painted in a different way.

But, then there is this whole other reality. That reality is, personal perception. What is person perception? The way an individual perceives, judges, and ultimately concludes their reality.

Is your reality the truth? Is the way you perceive your reality based upon the truth? Or, is it altered by the way you desire it to be viewed?

The simple fact is, you can tell the truth. Or, you cannot. The truth is the truth is the truth is the truth. It is satya. Or, you can alter it by the way you want it to be understood.

Ultimately, as you pass through your life, you will encounter those who try to tell the truth in the most truthful manner possible. But, no matter how truthful they perceive themselves to be, there is no one that is not dominated by their own mind. And, though they may be telling the truth from their own perspective, that is all it is, their own perspective.

Remember that whenever you ever listen to anyone saying anything to you.

The truth is, at best, defined by the mind of the person who is telling it.
