Be Positive
I always find it interesting how the colloquialisms people use change over time.
Obviously, society changes through time. As you pass through life, over longer and longer periods of time, you really come to witness how the mindset of society changes and from this the words and the sayings that people use evolve. All you have to do to take note of this progression is to simply listen to what is being said and compare that to what used to be said.
I mean, it’s really a simple thing to study. Think about the things you used to say in those very unique ways, defined by the people you found yourself associating with and the society where you existed.
I think when people are young, it’s really much more common that they use, for lack of a better term, “Trendy,” words and sayings. Whatever may be thought of as cool and culturally unique, while breaking away from the traditions of the past, that’s what young people tend to utilize as their nomenclatures. As one gets older, however, it’s a common practice that trendy idioms fall away, and people seem to fall more into the pattern of using a more structured and formal basis of language.
I believe that some individuals, especially those that work in customer service style jobs, are forced to communication with a much large group of people than say the person who does not. With this, they must constantly present a cordial, welcoming, and gracious demeanor.
A few years ago, after I made my purchase of that whatever from one of those customer care individuals and our dealings were culminating, she said to me, “Have a blessed day.”
Sure, there’s all of the religious connotations that can be associated with such a statement. But, beyond all of that, think about it, that’s a very nice way to send someone on their way.
Since then, I’ve heard that expression more and more. Up until this AM, I never used it. But, maybe that will change. This morning, as my lady was heading off to her nine-to-five, with a joking smile on my face I said to her, “Have a blessed day.” Though it was initially a joke, I really meant it. I hope she has a great day!
This is just some food for thought. We are all influenced by the people we interact with. Our moods are set into motion by the words that are spoken to us. Be all this as it may, isn’t it a great thing to wish someone something good and nice as you part company?
Have a blessed day.
