Who Did You Killed Today?

Most people spend very little time thinking about the impact they are having on anything but themselves. They think about themselves. That's just the way it is. Do they care about you? Do they care about anything else? Probably not. The only way they would is if it and/or you affects them and their life in some way, shape, or form.

Okay, with that out of the way, and now that we all understand the reality of this reality, let's get to talking about the subject. A subject that is related to all of this, but few ever think about.

Who did you killed today? Really, who did you killed today?

Most people will immediately say, “Oh, I have never killed anybody. I would never kill anybody,” and all that kind of stuff. But, let's dive a little bit deeper… What did you have to eat today? Did you have eggs and bacon for breakfast, as is common in many cultures? Did you eat a hamburger for lunch? Perhaps a steak last night for dinner? Maybe some chicken or some salmon? In all of those situation—in all of those things that you ate, something died. Meaning, you killed something to fill your belly. Does that thought ever even cross your mind?

Now, I get it, you go to the supermarket, or some other some-place similar, to get your food. You buy the already ground up hamburger meat. You grab the bacon out of the refrigeration section. You grab the chicken or the fish from the dairy deli. It's not you who has to kill any of those things; right? Or, is it? You're the one who's eating it; aren’t you? Even though it wasn't you who put that poor creature to death, it's you who's consuming its body and its flesh. Does that thought ever cross your mind? My guess is, probably not.

A lot of people complain about the price of meat, fish, chicken, and eggs. They're all upset when prices go up. They want it to be cheap. But, what is the cost of a life? And yes, these beings were once alive. They had feelings.

Have you ever owned perhaps a cat, a dog, maybe even a fish in your fishbowl or aquarium? Did you not love them? Did you not understand that they had feelings? They do! Yet, even though you may have a furry friend living with you right now, you never even think about that/them and their distant relatives when you're chowing down and eating some meat for dinner; do you?

Again, I get it, you can't be bothered thinking about anything like that; can you? You're too busy living your life, doing whatever it is you have to do. But, don't you think you should think about this just a little bit?

Have you ever seen the way animals are put to death? …Those animals that are destined for your dinner table. It's horrible! It's a brutal, bloody mess! Yet, how upset are you when you have to pay a little bit more for your steak? How unhappy are you when your supermarket doesn't have a good selection meat, chicken, or fish?

So, back to the original premise that I discussed in this piece, do you think about anybody but yourself? Do you think about any of the beautiful creatures that are out being killed to be your diner? If you don't, maybe you should. If you don't, how consciously are you actually living your life?

All life, and all death, begins with you. Who did you kill today?
