Be Positive
Again, I was pointed to another discussion created around the films of Donald G. Jackson and, (at least in this latest piece), to a lesser degree about myself on YouTube. When I hear these and/or when I see these presentations, it just always dumbfounds me. Don’t these people have anything better to do with their life???
But, more to the point, a point I have talked and written about so many times that I cannot even remember how many… What is seemingly forever the case in these discourses is that they are always so wrong in what they say. At best, they grab a something or other here, a something or other there, salt it up with some opinion someone has said on some discussion platform and then they go on and on and on and on, making it sound like they know what they are speaking about when they do not.
The thing that grabs me the most about all of this is that The Truth is Out There! Since the dawning of the internet, I’ve written so much stuff about the process Don and I used in creating our movies, plus his and my filmmaking philosophy and method in general. IT IS ALL OUT THERE PEOPLE!!! You don’t even have to pay for it. It is all on my website(s) and on my various other pages. And yes, there is even MORE in the books I have written on the subject! Plus, most of the movies are up on YouTube, also for free! You just have to care enough to do your homework!
Sure, there has also been the cases when someone has read what I’ve written, pulled a sentence here and an idea there, turned it all around and made it sound like some sort of a negative something that it was not. But, all I can say about people who live on that level of reality is, you are not providing a service. Whenever you evoke negativity, by casting your own damaging opinions is doing nothing but conjuring an ongoing flow of all that is negative. Where does that end? What does that equal?
There have also been those that I have heard or read and they have done a good job, particularly in the age when things were actually published by established sources. But, they did their research! They did their homework! Then, at least, their discourses were semi fact-based.
The truth be told, I can never bring myself to sit and listen to these highly opinionated diatribes in their entirety. Particularly when the first words out of their mouth are wrong. So, I just bounce through them. Some of the words make my smile. Others… All I can say is, (again), why don’t you do your homework! It’s out there for free!!!
The guy in this latest piece on YouTube didn’t seem like he was basing his ideas on any level of negativity. And, that’s a good thing. But, what he was saying about Don, his motivations, his creative process, who he was as a human being, and his interaction with me, and how and why I do what I do was opinion-based at best, and mostly just wrong. What he claimed was not what happened or why!
So, as is the case with most presentations on the internet, probably more people will watch his piece than read this. I doubt that he will read this. Though he should. But, as he did not do his homework before he made his production. Nor did he read any but, (at most), the minimal amount of what is out there—most probably written by someone else who also didn’t live the truth or know the facts. He didn’t contact me. He just talked what he talked without doing his homework.
I don’t know??? What can you do???
All I can say, and this is something I have said so many times before, and that is, as someone who came from a background in academic research, I just do not understand why people don’t do a full and impartial investigation and study the true facts before they present their conclusions, as that kind of analysis would never stand up to any form of critical fact checking. So, what does this type of a presentation actually equal?
And, just a word to the wise, do not believe people’s opinion pretending to be facts.
