Be Positive
For those of you that have been around for a while, reading the little ditties that I place up on this page, you will/may remember that way back in the way back when I used to let you periodically know what music I was listening to on whatever specific day it used to be. “On the Decks,” I titled it.
I don’t really do that anymore. Though, every now and then, someone will ask me, “Why not?” No real reason. It’s just that generally I’m hearing music from all/so-many sources. Combine that with all the stuff I’m doing and I no longer, all that often, sit back and listen to an entire album.
Today, however, I had the idea to grab this one CD and pop it into my car’s CD player as I drove around doing what I did this AM. The album was the only studio release by, The Wreckers.
I hadn’t listened to it in quite a while. But, it’s music that really stays in your mind. As I listened to it, I was reminded just how good the songs and the production were on that collection. Good stuff!
I pulled up to a stop light and got to wondering, “Just how long ago did that album come out?” I remember buying it very well. Back over at the Tower Records that used to be located here in the South Bay of L.A.
So, I asked Google. “2006,” was the answer. Wow, twenty years ago. That’s crazy! It was hard to believe that so much time has/had passed. That’s the same year that Tower Records shut down, at least here in the States. Still going strong in Tokyo.
I guess that’s the thing about life, the longer you live, the more things are measured in your rear view. …What was then, compared to the now. Time passes. People get old. The singers on that album are not the young women they were at the time. That’s not bad or good, that’s just reality.
So, here we are. We are each living what we are living. We are each experiencing what we are experiencing. We are each developing memories that brings us back to a time gone past. If you are old enough to answer this question, “What music were you listening to twenty years ago?” What has changed in your life? Do you still listen to those songs?
I don’t know??? Maybe, like I did, you should take a stroll down Memory Lane and play that album that you used to like, from that time gone past. You never know what it may create in you or cause you to create.
