Are You Sorry?

Are you sorry?

Are you sorry to the people you’ve hurt? Are you sorry for the bad things you’ve done to other people? Does the thought ever even cross your mind about what you did that hurt someone else’s life in some negative manner?

The truth be told, most people never think about any of this. They are so locked into their own mind that all they can think about is themselves and what they are feeling. If they've hurt somebody, maybe for a moment they feel bad, but they never set about rectifying that hurt. They never chart a course to undo what they’ve done. At most, they think about it for a moment or two, and then move on. Why? Because to them, the only one that really matters is themselves.

That's just the hard truth of life. Again, are you sorry to the people that you've hurt?

We all do things in life that hurt other people. Some of these things are very intentional, while others are very unintentional. But the reality of the reality is, even the unintentional has an intentional quality attached to it.

People are who they are. People do what they do. Because they are what they are, and they do what they do, their actions are predictable. Thus, though they may claim something is unintentional when they've done something that hurts someone else, is that really the case? Or, is it just them being who they are? Thus, in truth, the person who is responsible, is responsible, no matter what the intended motivation.

Like I quite often discuss, the world begins with you. What you do today, sets the next course of events into motion and it spreads out from there. Maybe that course of events is positive. Maybe that course of events is negative. Maybe that course of events helps your life. But, does it help another person's life? If you've done something that hurts somebody, that hurt remains in play forever. So, what are you going to do about that? You've hurt somebody. You're responsible for that hurt. Are you going to do anything to repair it?

Many people hold the mindset that, if somebody has done something wrong or negative or something that they don't like to them, they have every right to hurt that individual in return. But, do they? Hurt only equals hurt. Negative is only negative. And, if you do anything that hurts anybody, for any self-proclaimed reason, the karma is yours.

So again, are you sorry? If you are sorry, what are you going to do about it?

I think this is where a lot of life gets complicated. This is also the place where a lot of people don't want to investigate. They really don't want to take a long hard look at themselves. Most people live from a very unconscious perspective. They don't delve deep into the reality of who or what they truth are. They don't even delve deep into themselves. All they think about is whatever they're feeling and whatever current moment they're living. Some proclaim, that's living in the NOW. But, is it? If you're not living in your NOW with a complete sense of absolute consciousness, where are you living? I would say you're just living in a self-proclaimed selfish reality that doesn't take anybody else into consideration.

The thing about life is, yes, we all may hurt other people intentionally or accidentally. But, it's what we do about that, once it's done, that defines us as a human being—it expresses at what scale of human evolution we are existing upon.

If you do nothing, who are you? What does that say about you? If you do something corrective, however, then who do you become?

You know, as we pass through life, there will be people that we have the potential to help or to hurt at every stage. Most hurts are very unintentional. Some hurts are based upon pure selfishness. However it happens—however it occurs, if we hurt somebody, and we do nothing to repair that hurt, that hurt stays in motion forever.

Do you ever think about the hurt you've instigated? If you don't, who are you? If you do, what are you going to do about it?

Each day of our life we stack up an entirely new level of experience. Maybe we interact with a lot of people, maybe we interact with none. But, each day invokes new experience and new developmental interactions. If they are positive, great! If they are negative, not so great! But the ultimate question comes down to, what are you going to do about the hurt that you've instigated? Whether it was today, yesterday, ten years ago, or fifty years ago, what are you going to do about it? If you do nothing—if you live in your own selfishness—if you live in your own denial, all that means is that negative karma is swirling around you forever.

I get it, people's lives move on. Maybe somebody you hurt, that situation happened decades ago. You've lost track of that person. Though some would say you can pretty much find anybody in this day of this digital age. But, some people hide completely off the grid. Some people die. All this being said, if you don't fix the hurt you have created, that hurt will always hurt. Thus, it will always be re-projected onto you. If nothing else, if you care enough to care, you can do things from afar.

Are you sorry? If you are, do something about it. If you are not, don’t complain when negativity finds its way to you.
