Be Positive
I was listening to the news on NPR, as I was driving this morning, and virtually immediately I noticed how the story being told, discussing the actions of the current administration, was so titled to one side. Plus, it was so subtle…
This is something I am always acutely aware of. …The way the news is portrayed; as it is a very subtle thing. The way the story is told, and the supporting information that is provided, can be universally balanced, or, as was the case today, it can be very tilted in one direction or the other.
I guess this should be expected. A week or so ago, the Trump administration was successful in removing all of the government funding from NPR and PBS. This has been something that the Republican Party has been attempting to do for quite some time. Finally, it has come to pass.
Wherever you land on this subject, that’s not really the point of this piece. The point is, NPR and PBS have (forever) been left-leaning news services. In the past, however, there was at least a seeming attempt to bring views from both sides into their reporting. Now, apparently, the gloves are off. They will tell it the way the want to tell it, defined by their beliefs and their agenda.
The thing is, most people are never aware of this fact. …The fact that news services lean in one direction or the other, and present whatever it is they are presenting from a specific and predetermined point of view. Do you ever consider this fact? Or, do you simply believe everything you hear?
Of course, we can all say there is something very wrong in this practice. And, or course, people lean towards what they want to hear and that is where they listen or read or get whatever information it is that they are consuming.
But truly, do you ever contemplate the truth of what you are reading or hearing? Do you ever question its source? Do you ever consider that there may be another point of view—another way to present the news you are taking in? If you do, good for you! Most people are not like that, however.
I know from a personal perspective, there have been numerous times when people have attempted to tell the so-called, “Truth,” about Scott Shaw and my creations. But, it was wrong! Their research was very limited. Their facts were biased, at best. And, they completely missed the point of who and what I truly am. Yet, they presented these False-Truths as the truth, and people believed them. I guess???
This is just something to think about. You really should consider this whenever you hear anything that you hear; be it newsworthy, or otherwise. Ask yourself, who is saying what and why? Where have the obtained their facts? And, are they presenting a Full Truth or just the truth as they wish it to be perceived?
