Be Positive
How do you see yourself? No really, how do you see yourself? When you look in the mirror what do you see?
Now, think about this, how do other people see you? When they look at you, what do they see? How would they describe you?
Is how you see yourself, the same as how other people view you?
In life, each person has a projection of themselves. They see themselves the way they see themselves. For some, when they look in the mirror, what they see is based in positivity. For others, when they look in the mirror, what they see is based in negativity. They like what they see, or they do not like what they see.
For some, life is all about their physical appearance. This is why so much money is spent on plastic surgery and the all kinds of the everything else that goes into that which is on the outside.
But, there is a deeper study in all of this. When you look to your self, when you look to your internal working: what do you find in your mind, how you think, what you think, your desires, your emotions, and all the whatever that causes you behave the way you behave and to do what you do? Look deeply, what do you see?
Isn’t that subject even more important of an investigation than simply the external?
But, think how few people even contemplate that subject.
Once upon a time, in human history, not all that long ago, inner-exploration was on the tongues of everyone. Now, it has been case aside. But, the physical, the seen, that is seemingly a never-ending story.
As a filmmaker, ever since I first got into the game, image was so important. I think to when I was casting a film, I would receive tons-and-tons of headshot. A picture never lies, right? Wrong. There was so many times that the actor or actress would arrive for their audition and they looked nothing like their headshot. I would often jokingly say, “I want to meet the person that’s in this photo.” The question then becomes, is that how they actually saw themselves or was that simply a ploy to get them through the front door?
And, that’s the thing… …That’s what brings us back to the question at hand, how do you see yourself? Do you see yourself as you truly are, or do you see some altered image visible only to your own mind? Do you do this on the physical level, and do you do it on the internal level? And, how honest are you with what you find—what is actually there?
This is an important subject. You should really think it through.
