Be Positive

The Wrong Side of the Tracks

I was driving down the street today, and I noticed this business that had gone out of business a few months back. It was this café that had the best butter cake. I mean, it was really a joy to eat. Go in there in the afternoon, grab a latte and a butter cake, and it was heaven.

More than just a café, it was a really nicely designed business. They had this great rear patio space where it was just so nice to sit.

Located right on a boulevard, that patio really took you away from the sounds and the drive of the city.

Looking at the exterior of the business today, it was really sad. I guess people have done what some people do, and they pretty much destroy the whole vibe that was left on the exterior of the space. Graffiti, and the art works torn down.

Sad! I don’t know why people have to behave in that manner?

I don’t know about where you live, but here in L.A., you go down one street and it is very nice, travel a few blocks over, and the neighborhood is just the opposite.

I know I’ve experienced a lot of that throughout my life.

I live in the hills above the South Bay region of L.A. I’ve been in the South Bay for over forty years and where I’m living now for over twenty. I grew up in Southcentral L.A., Koreatown, and Hollywood. I also lived in the Valley when I was at the university, so I’ve been around a little bit. And, it’s all the same. One block one way and the next block another.

The thing is… Why is it that way? I mean, is it the people on one block compared to the next? Do some care more and others care less? …Some take care of their space and others do not?

Throughout my life, I’ve had a large amount of neighbors. Some have been super nice and very considerate and conscience. Others, have been just the opposite and have really fucked with my life. I mean, what is the karma for that? Those who are nice and do good verses those who do not? And, what is the recourse?

I believe that most people who live on the low-level of life, who live from a place of unconsciousness and do things that negatively alters the Life Place of other people are really operating from a space and mindset of frustration, self-loathing, and hating their own life. Because, if you are in a good space in your life, you present that to the world. Yes? You only do good things.

Now, no one can really say what has created any person and/or why they enact their negative behavior. And, if you call them out on it, most will simply deny who and what they are and why they are doing what they are doing. But, if a person does present in that sort of a way, immediately you know who they truly are. That does not change what they may or may not do. But, at least you understand who they are and why they should be avoided.

Life is the complicated interaction of experiences. Many of which are brought on by others.

So, do you destroy the exterior of a once thriving business just because you can?  Do you hurt, damage, or destroy anyone or anything? If so, why do you do it? And, what will doing that do to the ultimate reality of your own life? Mostly, do you ever even think about any of this?

The aforementioned business is gone. That is sad enough. Even when it was opened, I always thought if it had been placed in a better environment, a better location, it would have thrived. But, as it was placed on the wrong side of the tracks, what it could grow to was highly limited.

It’s gone and its ethos has been destroyed by those who do such things. Sad! I guess that’s simply an ideal depiction, and an important lesson in life. Everything… You and I and the all of the everything else is defined by where they/you are located. …Right side, or wrong side of the tracks.
