Be Positive

The Politics of Joy

How happy are you in your life? How much joy do you feel? How much time do you spend in a state of bliss? Or, how much time do you spend doing just the opposite?

Most people as they pass through their life simply exist. Sure, every now and then, when they get something they want or something is going their way, they get happy. But, they do not spend their life in a condition of joy.

The fact is, many religions and a lot of general people at large tell an individual to steer away from embracing and cultivating the feeling of joy. They explain that it is not good or not holy or not whatever. They exclaim that they should instead only seek a calm and steady life, solely focused on working on the life essential.

Again, how about you? How have you been instructed and taught to feel in terms of happiness and joy?  And, how often do you even think about this subject.

In New Age Circles, a few decades past, it was a time when people were told to embrace the joy. …To seek it out and to live it to its fullest. Terms like, “Peak Experience,” were used to guide people into embracing that enhanced sense of ecstasy.

All that seems gone now. But, that does not mean that it is no longer possible.

I have watched presentations where neuroscientists scan individual’s brains, and they found that certain people have certain elements that simply cause them to feel more joy than others. If you’re one of those people, good for you! I believe my wife is. I’m always envious, in that abstract sort of way, as I seem to be just the opposite. Well, when my mother was pregnant with me, she would later often brag that all she did was drink coffee and smoke and from that no one even knew she was pregnant. So, (I guess), I did not have the best incubator to rise up into life. But, you can’t change what you can’t change. All you are left with is all you are left with.

But, what it all really comes down to is what you choose to do with your life, how you choose to live it, and how you choose to feel. How do you choose to feel? Do you just want to live life defined by all that is going on around you—all that you cannot control. Or, do you choose to take a step towards embracing a consciousness of joy?

From my experience, the best way to do it is to simply do it. We all know what joy feels like. At least I hope we all know that feeling. So, just do it!

In fact, right now, stop the reading, and start the feeling. Simply let the sensation of joy enter your being. Bring it into your being. Instigate and become that emotion.
