Fake News AKA How the Story is Told
I was watching CNN International this morning. For those of you who may not know, CNN International broadcasts a bit different programing than CNN National.
They were doing this long-form converge on what has become of the Cuba economy. This could have been an interesting piece, and perhaps it was to some. But, all the piece continued to reiterate was how Trump and the U.S. embargo on tourism has destroyed the Cuba economy. Wow, does no one know the history of modern Cuba?
Castro, his brothers, and his band of mercenaries took over Cube in 1959. From that point forward, U.S. tourism was banned. Yes, Obama opened up the island during his term as president, but then it was shut down again when Trump initially came into office and not reinstated when Biden was in power.
The CNN newsreel continue to blame the U.S. I mean, they did this incessantly. But, come on… Let’s look at this deeper. Cuba could change the Castro stronghold on power. They have not. Virtually every other country in the world can still travel to Cuba if desired. Mexico, the countries that make up South America, Europe, and even Canada, they can all travel there. In fact, back in the early 2000s, my one friend’s sister, who had relocated to Canada, used to go there a couple of times a year and bring him back Cohibas. Why does CNN claim it is the entire fault of the U.S. due to the fall in tourism in Cuba. There’s a lot of other countries in play.
Now, I’m not arguing that the recent embargo on fuel and other things has not hurt the Cuban economy. But, think how many people have become refugees from that county? How many people of Cuba heritage want a change. But, the-powers-that-be inside Cuba keep that from happening.
Once upon a time, Cuba was the go-to spot in the Caribbean. It could be that way again if only the Cuba government would allow it. I mean, when something isn’t working, isn’t it time for a change?
But, the bigger point I am trying to make here is, the way the so-called news is presented changes the entire truth and meaning of the story. I get it, a lot of people do not like Trump. This was the same with LBJ and Nixon and GW and even Clinton to a certain degree. That’s just in my lifetime… From this, some news services are creating these highly tilted forms of so-called news stories. But, they do not present the full facts. They are presenting all they are presenting from a very biased perspective. Is that news?
I don’t know??? I generally enjoy long-form newsreels. I like that deeper dive. But, if what they are telling us is based upon personal perspective and not the truth of the truth then what is actually being feed into our brains?
This is why I believe so many people have become so polarized in their beliefs. If you only hear one side of the story, and that story is not wholly factually, not presenting all aspects of the truth, then what are people learning? They are only learning what you want them to believe.
Moreover, so many people instantly believe everything that they hear without ever diving deeper to find out the actual truth for themselves. From this, a world of zombies is given birth to.
What piece on the chess board are you?
A good rule of thumb is to never instantly believe what you hear just because you hear it. Not even if is claimed to be news on some news network. As for everything else you hear, from everyone else you hear it; forget about it. If what a person claims to believe is not based in proven fact, all they are taking about is based upon nothing more than opinion and them trying to get you to follow their way of thinking.
