Music To My Ears

You know how it is when a song comes at you from out of the great/grand beyond and it really touches that spot in you. I mean, most of the music out there really just sounds very much the same. Sure, it may be okay to listen to, but it doesn’t really grab you.

I forever find it funny/interesting how much Out-of-the-Nowhere stuff comes into my feed(s). …Feeds, wherever that feed may come from. For example, Amazon Prime has my music randomness pretty tight with an interesting mix of Dark Wave. But, I think I mess with the mind of that system when I get in the mood for something totally different like Tom Petty, ELO, or
Al Di Meola.
.

It’s kind of like life… It’s kind of like, “What do I do with this information,” when the information that comes at you is totally unexpected??? You know how it is, you try to make sense of it. At least I do. But, it just does not compute. So, all you are left with is a question.

I’ve been hit with that situation kind of a lot of late. At the forefront of all of this/that is the occurrence on the subway a few days ago. I wrote about it here in this blog. I still don’t know what to do with that??? Or, maybe better put, what should I have done with that??? Very confusing. Why didn’t that happen to me in the ‘80s?

Anyway… Before I get too far off track… The music feed. The radio. The whatever… It’s so interesting when a song comes into your field of listening and it really blows you away.

I know the first time I heard the song by Angus and Julia Stone,
Yellow Brick Road, it hit me in such a way making me realize how I really blew it as I had given up playing my folk/rock roots years before. As I said to myself way back when, I didn’t want to end up being some old musician humping his own equipment in and out of the gigs as some of my friends, (one time rock stars), ended up doing. But, that song shook me. It still does. It did and still does make me question my decisions.

Recently, some really good music has been finding its way to me. I guess I could/should give you the whole list but then I would have to dig up links for all the stuff. That would take a while. So, I’m just going to leave you with this one, at least for right now. They’re a band out of L.A. called, The Palms. They have a great song, “
Maybe.” On their Facebook page, which is where it first fell into my feed, they have several impromptu music videos for it. Check it out if you feel like it.
