Be Positive
I always try to keep things moving along. Not to hoard, but to keep the energy moving. For if you don’t, then your energy gets all stagnant and stuff, and it really holds back your creativity.
Anyway, I came upon this suitcase. Well, it’s more like an over the shoulder duffle. A little bit bigger than a duffle though…
I got it back in the ‘80s. I remember I took it with me, used it for my clothing, on my first visit to Tibet. That was a long-long time ago.
For some reason, I held onto it. Why? I really don’t know. I just did. All my other suitcases from that era are long gone.
I found it in the bottom of another larger duffle. One that I keep similar style suitcases and backpacks in. The ones I use.
Anyway, I decided it was time to move it along. …All these years later. Sure, I have sentimentality attached to it. But, it’s not serving its purpose. It’s just sitting in the bottom of another suitcase.
On it, it still has the tags from the last flight I took with it: HKG, Hong Kong. And, Cathay Pacific Airlines.
I put it over by the front door on the flour, so I would remember to put it in my trunk so I could donate it the next time I went to a thrift store. Something happened, however. The moment I placed it there, one of my cats took up residence on it. Every day and every night, more times than not, that is where he is hanging out and sleeping. Each evening, he does a beat-it-up session on it. Clawing and making noises. He loves it! Why? I have no idea??? But, I can’t just go and donate it now. He’s made it his home.
I guess that’s the thing about life and Life Stuff. You get it, however you get it. You use it, however you use it. Then, you use it no more. But, just because you’re done with it, that doesn’t mean someone else would not love it.
Now, I have a new piece of furniture. A suitcase from the ‘80s, sitting over there by my front door.
Sure, I could donate it. But, I doubt that anyone would use it and love it like my cat is doing. ![]()
